How to make lingerie

Yay! My first trial creation of lingerie wasn't so bad! Look at me, posing and everything! ^-^

Yesterday I needed sexy lingerie to participate in a dance competition so today I decided to stop shopping and instead make my own.

It took me some time though to figure out where the cut lines suppose to be. With several experiments and dozens upload failures I finally understood that to get rid of that ugly slpit in front , you have to draw a thong in front to make it look like a normal panty. Here is what worked for me :

If the panty line is low, like the red line on the image 1, you will end up with an ugly split in front (to understand what I am talking about, go to your avatar's appearance and click "create new underpants". If the button is not there, it means you are already wearing panties and you have to take them off first. After creating new panties, set the pants length to 0 and you will see the split in front.) Its probably much easier when you are making boys' shorts because you can draw the panty line lower than split and avoid it altogether..

With bra you also need to learn where front and back connects and where the cup line ends. This is the approximate size that looks good on my avatar (image 2).

The straps look pretty ungly on SL avatar so I am trying to avoid them at any cost, because they make bra or whatever you are making look ugly. You can try making prim straps but they look misplaced once you start moving, expecially during dance.

Later, I will add the paragraph on stockings. They are very easy to make, but when drawing high stockings it is hard to match front and back so that the lacy pattern looks nice. I haven't figured out how to do it yet, but I've been watching the dancers today at the Edge and I understood that it is possible, so I'm just gonna try different variations! ^-^

By the way, to make semitransparent lace pattern, read Natalia's tutorial on alpha channel. It is very helpful!
